ELON, N.C. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped a doubleheader to Elon Saturday afternoon on the road.

The Bonnies fell in game one to the Phoenix, 8-0, in five innings before dropping a 4-2 decision in game two.

Game 1 – Elon 8, St. Bonaventure 0 – (5 Innings) – Box Score (PDF)
Elon took a 3-0 lead, scoring a run in each of the first three innings in game one Saturday.

The Phoenix pulled away for good with a five-run fourth inning, earning the victory.

Grace Walker registered the lone hit for the Bonnies, a single in the top of the fifth inning to break up the Elon no-hitter.

Emily Phelan got the start for the Bonnies, working 3.1 innings and striking out three. Tierney Fitzgerald pitched 0.2 innings in relief for the Brown and White.

Game 2 – Elon 4, St. Bonaventure 2 – Box Score (PDF)
The Phoenix took another early 3-0 lead, scoring a pair in the first and another in the second inning on game two.

The Bonnies, however, cut the deficit to one in the top of the fourth when Olivia Moon doubled to right-center, bringing around Olivia Whitecar and Brooke Bobbey to score.

Elon added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth off an RBI double, securing the doubleheader sweep.

Ally Haskell was in the circle for the Bonnies, tossing a complete game while striking out a pair.

The Bonnies wrap up their three-game set at Elon with a solo game Sunday afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
