ST. LOUIS – The St. Bonaventure University softball team fell to Saint Louis, 12-3, in five innings in the series finale Sunday afternoon on the road.
Brooke Bobbey collected a pair of doubles and an RBI while Olivia Moon added a pair of singles and a run driven in to lead the Bonnies. Juanita Wolak and Elyse Graham collected singles as well.
The Bonnies got on the board in the top of the first when Emily Piergustavo's sacrifice fly scored Bobbey to give the visitors the early lead.
Saint Louis (9-16, 3-0 A-10) tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second by way of an RBI single.
Bobbey brought home Victoria Jacques in the top of the third with an RBI double, giving the Bonnies back the lead, 2-1.
The lead did not last for long as the Billikens plated three runs in their half of the third on a two-RBI single and a passed ball.
Moon cut the Bonnies' deficit to one, 4-3, in the top of the four with an RBI single up the middle.
That is all the closer the visitors would get as Saint Louis scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth, earning the victory.
Emily Phelan struck out five batters in 4.1 innings of work. Elizabeth Lis pitched in relief for the Brown and White.
The Bonnies (2-14, 0-3 A-10) return to action Tuesday, March 21 and make their 2023 home debut at Joyce Field when they host Buffalo for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 2:00 p.m.
