BRADENTON, Fla. - St. Bonaventure improved to 3-1 with a 6-5 win over Holy Cross on Thursday at IMG Academy.

The Bonnies opened a 6-0 lead after scoring five times in the seventh inning. In the frame, junior outfielder Matt Landahl plated a pair of runs with a double, freshman outfielder Dan Bratys had an RBI single and senior third baseman Josh Paine had a run-scoring sacrifice fly.

Holy Cross answered with two runs in the bottom of the seventh and three in the eighth but could not plate the tying run against Bona senior relief pitcher Matt Gunesch, who was credited with a save.

Sophomore Aaron DeCoursey won his first start of the season. He allowed two runs on just four hits with three strikeouts and no walks over six innings.

Senior outfielder Mike Rapacioli, Bratys, Paine and sophomore catcher Damian Blakeley all had two hits for the Bonnies. Blakeley smacked two doubles and had one RBI.

The Bonnies continue their Spring Break schedule of games Friday with a 10:30 a.m. contest against Duquense.
