WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The St. Bonaventure baseball team fell to Northeast Conference foe Monmouth 15-7 on Monday afternoon on the campus of Florida Atlantic University.
The Bonnies are now 1-5 on the season and will take on ACC powerhouse No. 12 Miami Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
The Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first off starter Michael Proctor and never looked back. Monmouth did all of its damage in four innings as it also plated two runs in the third, five in the fifth and four more in the seventh.
Senior Brian Pellegrini went 2-for-5 with a homerun and two RBI as four of St. Bonaventure's nine hits went for extra-bases. Senior Matt Mardeusz also homered, while Kieran Malone and Josh Sova legged out doubles.
Proctor lasted just four innings giving up six runs on six hits before giving way to the Bona bullpen. Sophomore Brian Hardner along with freshmen Cory Sudbrook, Adam Bristol and Dennis Sherba combined to work the final five innings.
