Bonnies Update
As the regular season comes to a close this week, there is still plenty on the line for St. Bonaventure, and it begins on Wednesday night in the Reilly Center when Fordham visits on Senior Night. Coming off their win at Duquesne, the Bonnies look to nail down a spot in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Terron Diggs, Lounceny Kaba, Ivan Kovacevic and Paul Williams play in the RC for the final time. The Bonnies hold a one-game lead over Richmond and LaSalle for the 12th and final spot in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. There may not be a hotter player in the A-10 than A.J. Hawkins. The sophomore swingman led the Bonnies in scoring five of the past six games, scoring 20 against Duquesne at home, 23 at Temple, 24 against Dayton, 18 against St. Joseph's, 12 at UMass and a career high 29 at Duquesne for an average of 21.0 points per game over that stretch. In last Saturday's win at Duquesne, he also set career highs with 12 rebounds and six assists. Michael Lee, who collected a double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds against Duquesne on Saturday, leads the Bonnies in scoring at 12.9 points per night. Williams is at 11.5 points and he continues to lead his club in rebounding at 7.7 per game. The Bonnies will also look to Tyler Relph, Tyler Benson and Ivan Kovacevic to continue their recent production. Benson and Kovacevic have been pleasant surprises, particularly in the game at Duquesne where Benson scored a career high 24 points and Kovacevic set career bests with six points and six rebounds.
Fordham Scouting Report
The Rams have won their last two games, most recently an impressive, 71-62 decision at Rhode Island on Saturday. The two-game win streak follows a four-game losing skid during which the Rams averaged only 54 points per game. Fordham leads the A-10 in scoring defense, allowing just 63.8 points per game. Fordham features one of the A-10's best inside-outside tandems in junior forward Bryant Dunston and junior guard Marcus Stout. Stout, who scored 24 points in the win at Rhode Island, leads Fordham in scoring at 15.3 points per game while Dunston is second at 13.9. Dunston also leads the Rams in rebounding (7.0) and blocks (2.3 per game). Junior swingman Sebastian Greene, who had 18 points in the first meeting with St. Bonaventure this year, is third on the team in scoring at 9.6 points per game. Freshman guard Brenton Butler, who averages 9.3 points per game, is the Rams' top reserve.
Matchup To Watch
Paul Williams vs. Bryant Dunston. The Battle of the Big Men did not live up to the hype in round one this year. Williams will look to keep keep Dunston off the glass in the final go-around between the two.
