Men's Basketball Prepares For Eastern Michigan

At A Glance
St. Bonaventure returns to Bob Lanier Court for the first time since its homeopening win against Binghamton on Nov. 12. The Bonnies posted a 2-1 mark at the BTI Invitational last weekend in Albuquerque, N.M. Today's game is just the second meeting between the two teams. Eastern Michigan claimed the lone meeting 83-63 on November 29, 1995 at Gund Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The Brown and White are 32-20 all-time against the Mid-American Conference. Scouting the Eagles
The Eagles closeout their two-game New York road trip today against the Bonnies. Eastern Michigan rallied to pick up a solid road in at Manhattan on Wednesday night and now stand at 2-2 on the season. Senior Jesse Bunkley leads the team in scoring (14.7) and made good in his first start of the season against the Jaspers Wednesday night with his second 19-point outing of the season. Junior Carlos Medlock (11.5) and sophomore Justin Dobbins (10.5) round out the double-digit scorers for Eastern Michigan. Medlock just missed a double-double at Manhattan with 10 points and nine assists. Medlock averaged a team-best 5.5 helpers per game. Dobbins completed his first career double-double in a big way against the Jaspers, establishing career-highs with 22 points and 14 boards. Junior Wendale Farrow is tied for the team lead in rebounding (7.3) with Dobbins.

Elite Company
Senior Michael Lee has used steady play throughout his career to build one of the best resumes in program history. Lee needs just 14 rebounds to become the 21st player in school history to reach 1,000 points and 500 rebounds for his career. Lee recorded the 1,000th point of his career in Albuquerque in the team's final game against Presbyterian. Lee ranks 37th on the all-time scoring list with 1,007points.

Last Time Out: Seniors help Bonnies outgun Presbyterian, 79-72
Senior leadership proved to the difference as the Bonnies overcame a hot shooting Presbyterian squad, 79-72, on the final day of the BTI Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico at the PIT. Seniors Zarryon Fereti, Michael Lee and Tyler Relph combined for 60 of the team's 79 points, including 34 in the second half as the Bonnies improved to 3-2 on the season. Their play helped St. Bonaventure fight off 15 three-pointers from the Blue Hose. Lee's 21 points came on 8- of-16 shooting from the field as he became the 37th player in program history to surpass the 1,000-point plateau. The West Palm Beach, Fla. native has now scored 20 points or more four times this season. Relph broke out of his early season shooting slump in a big way with a career-high six three-pointers en route a career-high 21 points. Fereti capped a strong threegame tournament, in which he averaged 18.7 points per game, with 18 points on four three-pointers and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. For the game, the two teams made a combined 28 trifectas out of the game's 47 field goals. St. Bonaventure's offensive outburst can be directly contributed to a season-low eight turnovers and season-high 17 assists.

One-Two Punch
The play of the seniors will dictate the Bonnies success this season with such a young roster. Seniors Zarryon Fereti and Michael Lee have been vital in St. Bonaventure's early success. The duo ranks first and second, respectively, on the team in both scoring and are the second-best scoring tandem in the Atlantic 10 with 39 points per game. Lee ranks third in the conference in scoring (21.0), while Fereti is ninth at 18.0 points per game. Both established new career-high's against Binghamton in the home opener with Fereti going for 32 and Lee's scoring 26. They have led or tied for the team lead in scoring in every game this season.

Saving His Best For Last
Senior Michael Lee is off to a furious start in his final season in the Brown and White. Lee leads the team in both scoring (21.0) and rebounding (8.4). Lee is currently tied for third in the conference in scoring, eighth in rebounding and ninth in field goal percentage (.565). Lee opened the season with threestraight 20-point outings and now has four this season. Back-toback double-doubles against Binghamton and Loyola Maryount gave Lee nine for his career to go along with 51 games in double figures.

Oh Captain, My Captain
Seniors Michael Lee and Tyler Relph have been deemed team captains for the 2007-08 season. The duo sports 162 games of collegiate experience and both are in the program's top 100 in scoring.
