Golf improves on final day at William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The St. Bonaventure golf team wrapped up play at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at Kingsmill Resort River Course.

The Bonnies finished in 21st place after posting rounds of 314 and 309 for a two-day total of 623. The course played at par-71 over the two rounds and measured just over 6,800 yards.

Liberty University took home first place honors in the 22 team field with rounds of 284 and 290, which were the lowest of each day. Campbell University (578) finished just four strokes back, while the rest of the field was a minimum of 14 strokes away from Liberty.

Senior Brennan Payne was the only Bonnie to finish in the 70s both days with a 78-75/153. Sophomore Chris Stoddard finished in a tie with Payne for 56th place thanks to a team tournament-low two-over par 73 on Tuesday.

Freshman Kevin Lewis led the Brown and White with an opening round 75, but struggled on day two shooting an 82. Junior Nathan Peck fired rounds of 81 and 79 for a 160.

St. Bonaventure will have a week and a half off before heading to Center Valley, Pa. for the Lafayette College Invitational. The 36-hole tournament will begin on Saturday, April 4.
