St. Bonaventure holds on to third place heading into final round of A-10 Golf Championship

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. - St. Bonaventure carded a two-over par 290 in Saturday's second round and remains in third place heading into the final round the Atlantic 10 Golf Championship, which is being played on the Panther Lake course at Orange County National Golf Center. The Bonnies stand at 577 (+1) for the tournament. They trail only leader Charlotte (551) and second place Xavier (552) in the field of 12 teams. Both Charlotte and Xavier are ranked among the top 50 teams in the nation. Rhode Island stands fourth at 583 followed by Saint Joseph's (586) in fifth, George Washington (588) in sixth, Richmond (592) in seventh and Temple (595) in eighth place. Dayton (603) is ninth followed by Fordham (621) and LaSalle (628). St. Bonaventure's best finish ever at the Atlantic 10 Golf Championship is fourth. Last year, the Bonnies placed fifth in a field of 13 teams. Junior Andy Whalen carded a three-under par 69 on Saturday and is in a tie for 11th place at 143. Classmate Ryan Swanson, who opened with a 70, shot 73 in the second round and is tied with Whalen at 143. Senior Ben Howe shot 75 on Saturday and is in a tie for 15th place at 144. Sophomore Brennan Payne (76-73) and freshman Nathan Peck (74-75) are in a tie for 27th place at 149. The 54-hole Championship concludes on Sunday.
