Soccer adds midfielder Nilton Brito
May 27, 2003 ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure men's soccer head coach Bill Brady announced today that Nilton Brito (Houston, Texas/Westside) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend St. Bonaventure University and play for the Bonnies beginning in the fall of 2003. Brito was raised in London, England. His family moved to Texas midway during his junior year of high school. Brito, who plays in the midfield, scored 28 goals and added 16 assists for 72 points as a senior at Westside High School. He was named both MVP and Offensive MVP in his district and was named to the All-Greater Houston Second Team. Brito scored 12 goals and tallied six assists his junior season, when he played just one-half of the schedule. Brito also competes for the Bearcreek United Soccer Club, which won the last two South Texas state titles. "Nilton should compete for a starting position on the left side of the midfield," said Brady. "He should develop into an impact player at our level." Brito joins midfielder Phil Amahazion (Calgary, Alberta/St. Mary's) and striker Kevin Omokhua (Brampton, Ontario/Cardinal Leger Secondary) in the Bonnies' incoming freshman class.
The Bonnies, who went 8-10 in the 2002 season, lost six players to graduation earlier this month, including four midfielders.
