Bonnies down Buffalo Bulls

AMHERST, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure men's swimming and diving team took first in six events en route to a 129-114 win over the University at Buffalo to end their regular season on Thursday evening.

The Bonnies captured their first victory in the 400-yard medley relay after their team comprised of senior Ceyhan Guler, juniors Scott Jordan and Roman Margulis and sophomore Pat Henahan touched in a time of 3:33.04.

St. Bonaventure took both relays, also winning the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:12.68. Guler teamed with seniors Dan Freeland, Aroldo Nery and Chris Ekimoff to finish nearly six seconds before their next competitor.

Ekimoff snagged gold after completing the 1000-yard freestyle in 9:43.80. He later went on to finish second in the 500-yard free with a time of 4:47.26.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Freeland touched in 1:46.46, good for silver. He also earned an additional second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:56.41.

Margulis won the 200-yard individual medley in 1:56.12 and also placed second in the 200-fly in a time of 1:56.45.

Due to solid underclassmen showings, the Brown and White secured two more wins. Henahan finished the 100-free with a time of 48.41 and freshman Mariusz Michalik touched in 2:07.35 to capture the 200-yard breaststroke.

Freshman John Krakowski claimed silver in the 50-yard free with a time of 22.34.

On the boards, junior CJ Mauer notched 243.00 points in the one-meter competition and placed second, while sophomore Jonathan Larson finished second with a score of 260.85 in the three-meter.

 

 

The Bonnies finished their regular season with a 5-5 record and will compete at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships Feb. 21-24 at the Flickinger Aquatic Center in Buffalo, N.Y.
