Ekimoff named A-10 Men's Swimming and Diving Student-Athlete of the Year
March 20, 2007 ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Senior Chris Ekimoff has been named the Atlantic 10 Men's Swimming and Diving Student-Athlete of the Year in voting done by the conference Sports Information Directors. Last month in Buffalo, Ekimoff guided the Bonnies to a second place finish at the A-10 Championships by wracking up 52 individual points. Ekimoff earned gold in the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.76) and bronze in the 500-yard free (4:35.76) and 1,650-yard free (16:00.85). He also swam the anchor leg in the 800-free relay and 400-medley relay, helping the Bonnies to third place finishes in both. An accounting major, Ekimoff boasts a 3.7 cumulative grade point average. He also was a member of the 2006 Academic All-Conference team. Joining Ekimoff on the men's team is classmate James Wood. Wood posted a pair of sixth place finishes at A-10's in the 400-yard I.M. (4:07.56) and 200-yard back (1:53.27). Wood sports a 3.575 cumulative GPA as a psychology major. On the women's side, senior Emily Grobmyer earned Academic All-Conference accolades. At last month's A-10 meet, Grobmyer earned points in five different events for the Brown and White, highlighted by a silver in the 400-yard medley relay, a fourth place finish in the 200-fly (2:07.65) and seventh place in the 100-yard fly (58.91). A history major, Grobmyer has a 3.6 GPA..
