Moore garners Atlantic 10 Sporting Award
May 22, 2006 ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure men's swimming and diving senior Ryan Moore has been awarded the Atlantic 10 Sporting Award in voting done by the Conference's senior women administrators. The Sporting Award is presented annually to a male and female student-athlete who exemplifies good sportsmanship. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a member of an intercollegiate athletics team in a sport sponsored by the Atlantic 10 Conference; be in good academic standing; be active within the campus community; embody the highest standards of leadership integrity, and sporting conduct; be enthusiastic about the sport in which they compete; and have noteworthy act(s) of sporting conduct. A product of Hawthorne, N.J., Moore is a two-time gold medal winner as a member of the 2005 200-yard freestyle relay team and the 200-yard medley relay team in 2004. He also captured silver in three other relay events throughout his career. Moore graduated on May 14 with a bachelor's degree in history. He was a Dean's List student and A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll student, the treasurer of the history club and a recipient of a Friar's Scholarship. This past season at the 2006 Atlantic 10 Championships, Moore displayed the true meaning of "team" as he gave way to teammate Roman Margulis in the 400-yard freestyle relay. With the Bonnies up one point heading into the final event, Moore allowed Margulis to swim in his place for the better of the team. The Bonnies went on to win the event and edge out UMass for the team title. Rhode Island senior Courtney Klenk won the women's award. Klenk was a member of the Cross Country and Track & Field teams.
