ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure men's tennis team opened the 2005-2006 campaign today, playing the first day of the St. Bonaventure Men's Tennis Fall Classic.

The Bonnies started the day winning two of three doubles matches against Cleveland State. In No. 2 doubles, junior Alejandro Nery paired with freshman Jonathan Luce defeated Rob West and Steven Wipprecht of Cleveland State, 8-4. In the afternoon round, Nery and Luce defeated Walter Garcia and Dawson Peare of Niagara, 9-7.

In No. 3 doubles, Bona sophomore Antonio Farias and freshman Victor Lecina won decisively over Joseph Dante and Steve Kopf of Niagara, 8-1.

The entire tournament is being played with an individual format only. Play resumes on Saturday at 9 a.m. Individual and doubles winners will be crowned Sunday.
