Men's cross country places 12th, women 17th at Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Fordham Invitational on Saturday. The men finished 12th out of 17 teams, while the women placed 17th out of 19 teams.

The men defeated Fairfield, St. Peter's, St. Francis (NY), Pace and NYIT. The women beat Pace and New York Tech.

On the men's side, senior Brian Thiermann led St. Bonaventure in a time of 29:15, good for 88th place out of 153 runners. Senior Jason Schulz and junior Andy Shulha placed second and third for the Bonnies, finishing 89th and 90th in times of 29:24 and 29:27, respectively.

For the women, junior Carrie Jackling led the Bonnies in her first collegiate race with a time of 24:23, placing her 170th out of 210 runners. Junior Mary Harruff and junior Jesica Hendrick finished second and third for the Bonnies, posting times of 25:45 and 26:25, respectively.

Princeton won the team titles in both the men's and the women's races.

The Bonnies return to action Friday, September 16, at the Notre Dame Invitational.
