Mitchell named Preseason Mid-Major Honorable Mention
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Last week Dana Mitchell (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) was named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason first team, and on Monday afternoon the Bonnies' standout was named Preseason Mid-Major Honorable Mention by Full Court Press.
With the college basketball season set to tip off early next month, members of Full Court Press selected their top 25-plus players outside of the six major conferences (ACC, BIG EAST, SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, and Pac 10). Mitchell was one of the players to receive the honorable mention accolade.
Mitchell returns for her final season in the Brown and White following a junior campaign in which she garnered All-Conference second team accolades for the second consecutive year. She averaged 15.5 points to rank second in the conference and pulling down 5.6 rebounds per contest. Mitchell now sits fifth on the all-time scoring list with 1,463 points. The Fairless Hills, Pa., native also shot 50.3 percent from the field and 82 percent from the free throw line to rank seventh and fourth, respectively, in the conference.
Mitchell and the Bonnies open the 2009-10 season in an exhibition contest on Friday, Nov. 6 against Mansfield. Tip time is set for at 5 p.m. inside the Reilly Center.
