ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure women's basketball team gave #17 /#19 Temple all it could handle for 40 minutes, but came up short 63-53 at the Reilly Center on Thursday night.

The Bonnies closed to within one, 46-45, on four foul shots by senior forward Tory Vyborny, with 7:20 left in the game. Temple then used a 12-4 run to stretch its lead to nine, 58-49 with 3:10 remaining.

The brown and white just wouldn't go away, climbing within five, 58-53, on sophomore forward Audrey Latendresse's layup with 2:16 remaining. Time proved to be a factor as the Bonnies were forced to foul in the winding minutes and Temple hit 5-6 free-throws to seal the win.

The Bonnies played the entire second half without leading scorer junior Stephanie Collins who left the game with an injury after scoring five points in the first half.

"I'm very proud of how our kids played tonight against a team that good," head coach Jim Crowley said. "There were times where it looked like they might pull away from us, but we wouldn't let them. We showed a lot of heart and great resilience tonight."

The Bonnies shot 36 percent from the field (18-50), including 27 percent (3-11) from beyond the arc. Temple drained 46 percent (26-57) of its shots, shooting 25 percent (1-4) from three-point range. St. Bonaventure out-rebounded Temple 37-35 for the game and did not allow a Temple offensive rebound in the second half.

Vyborny recorded her fourth double-double of the season, leading the Bonnies with 18 points and 11 rebounds. She was 5-10 from the field and a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe. Freshman guard Priscilla Edwards and classmate Maripier Malo each chipped in with nine, while Latendresse recorded eight points and six rebounds on the evening.

The Owls had four players in double-figures led by junior Candice Dupree who scored 21 points and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds. Cynthia Jordan and Kamesha Hairston both drained 12 while Ari Moore scored 10.

The loss dropped the Bonnies' record to 8-16 on the season and 3-10 in Atlantic 10 play. The win improved Temple's record to 21-3 and a perfect 13-0 in conference action.

St. Bonaventure will play its final home game of the season on Sunday, February 20, when it hosts Fordham at 12:00.
