Collins, Edwards snag All-Conference honors

March 1, 2006

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure senior Stefanie Collins and freshman Ashley Edwards each earned Atlantic 10 All-Conference women's basketball honors Wednesday in voting done by the A-10's head coaches.

Collins was named an honorable mention All-Conference selection, while Edwards garnered a spot on the All-Rookie team.

This marks the third straight year Collins has earned all-conference accolades since being named Rookie of the Year in 2001. Her 11.5 points per game was tops on the team for the third consecutive season as she led the Bonnies in scoring 11 times. Collins led the A-10 in three-pointers per game (2.7) and currently ranks 22nd nationally. She started all 27 games this season to finish her career with 59 straight starts. For her career, Collins ranks sixth in the Bona record books with 1,421 points and second in three-pointers. Her 288 career threes ranks 25th all-time in the NCAA record books.

Edwards is the 10th Bona player to make the All-Rookie team and the first since Collins did it in 2001-02. The 5-foot-11 forward ranked sixth in the conference in both rebounding (6.9) and steals (1.9), and finished second among freshmen in scoring (7.7) and rebounding. Edwards led the team in rebounding 15 times and reached double-digit points on 10 occasions. She posted a pair of double-doubles on the season, including a season-high 15 points and 14 boards at nationally ranked Temple. Edwards was twice named A-10 Rookie of the Week.

Joining Edwards on the All-Rookie team are Saint Joseph's Hillary Klimowicz and Jen Oyler, Richmond's Sarah Williams and George Washington's Jessica Adair.

St. Bonaventure finished the 2005-06 campaign with an overall record of 9-18 and 3-13 in conference action.
