ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure women's basketball sophomore forward Dana Mitchell has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week following her performance in the Bonnies' 71-65 win at Binghamton on Saturday, Dec. 29. The 6-0 forward posted a season-high 28 points and 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season in the club's second victory over the Bearcats this season. She connected at a blistering rate of .714 percent (10-for-14) from the field as well as a .888 percent (8-for-9) clip from the charity stripe vs. Binghamton. Mitchell has reached double figures in each contest this season with a season low of 16 points and has led the Brown and White in scoring in all but one game in 2007-08. Since her arrival on the St. Bonaventure campus, she has paced the Bonnies in scoring 25 of 43 times. In her second season in the Brown and White, the Fairless Hills, Pa. native currently leads the A-10 in scoring (20.2) and 20-point games (seven), while ranking fourth in field goal percentage (.540), third in free throw percentage (.830), tied for fourth in double-doubles (three) and 15th in rebounding (6.5). This is Mitchell's first Player of the Week award after garnering four A-10 Rookie of the Week honors in her first season. The Brown and White are off to their best start in program history at 11-2, including six wins a row all away from Bob Lanier Court at the Reilly Center. St. Bonaventure will attempt to establish new program marks in consecutive wins and road wins this afternoon at Syracuse. Tip-off against the 11-1 Orange is slated for 1:00 p.m. today at the Carrier Dome.
