Ross named to IWLCA All-Region Second Team

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse senior Kimberly Ross has been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division 1 All-West/Midwest Region second team, announced Thursday afternoon. Ross' accolade marks the third consecutive season the Bonnies have landed a student-athlete on the All-Region team. Shortly after her senior season, Ross became the second player in program history to be named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference first team two consecutive seasons. A model of consistency at midfield, the first team selection is the second in a row for Ross. The Baldwinsville, N.Y. product recorded her first career 50-point season in 2008, while leading the Bonnies in ground balls (43), draw controls (27) and caused turnovers (20). Ross finished the year with 53 points on 27 goals and a team/career-high 26 assists. She finished seventh in the A-10 in points per game (3.8) and fourth in assists per game (1.9). Ross' 27 goals came in the form of nine multi-goal games, including four hat tricks. She biggest offensive out of her career came this season against Niagara as she totaled nine points on three goals and a career-high six assists. Ross ended her career on a 29-game point scoring streak and during the season became the ninth player in program history to surpass 100 career points. She wound up eighth in the program record books with 132 points on 92 goals and 40 helpers. Ross produced 18 hat tricks over her four seasons and her 92 goals ranks eighth all-time. Her 42 goals as a junior in 2007 are the third-best single-season total in school history and her 40 career assists are tied for fourth. Ross also put together staggering numbers in the midfield, accumulating over 100 ground balls, 80 draw controls and 50 caused turnovers.
Ross helped St. Bonaventure to a 36-25 record over her four seasons that included a pair of Atlantic 10 Tournament berths. |
