ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — St. Bonaventure
women’s soccer juniors Courtney Bosse and
Nicole
Markert have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic
All-District team.
The duo made the District 1 second team and are two of just 36
players that were named to the three All-District teams. The
District 1 teams are made of up of Division I schools in the
Northeast.
An engineering physics major with a 3.6 cumulative grade-point
average (GPA), Bosse currently leads the team with 15 points and
seven goals heading into the final weekend of regular season play.
Four of her seven goals have been game-winners, ranking her in a
tie for second in the A-10 in that category. Bosse has notched four
of her seven goals in conference play and was named the first
Player of the Week of the season after her two-goal performance
against Syracuse.
The conference portion of the schedule has been Markert’s
time to shine, as the third-year goalie has posted a school record
five shutouts in A-10 action. Markert currently stands at 7-7 on
the season with a 1.05 goals against average and 67 saves. The
Russell, Ohio native recorded three consecutive shutouts to begin
at A-10 play, the longest shutout streak in program history.
Markert also sports at 3.97 GPA as a math major.
The Academic All-District teams are chosen by members of the
College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be
eligible, a student-athlete must carry a cumulative GPA of at least
3.2 and be either a starter or a key reserve on his or her
team.
Bosse and Markert will lead the Brown and White into a pair
crucial A-10 home games this weekend, beginning with La Salle on
Friday at 3 p.m. St. Bonaventure will then host Fordham on Sunday
on Senior Day.
