Head Coach

A determined and confident leader, head coach Manoj Khettry has completely changed the identity of St. Bonaventure women's soccer in just three short years.

Khettry's hard work and diligence on the recruiting trails over his first two years helped him land back-to-back regionally-ranked recruiting classes, setting the stage for the Bonnies to have a breakout 2008 campaign.

The 2008 season was exactly that for Khettry and St. Bonaventure, as the Brown and White produced an 11-8-1 overall record and qualified for the Atlantic 10 Tournament for just the second time in program history and the first since 1999. The Bonnies reeled off a 6-1-1 record over their final eight A-10 contests to advance to the postseason, giving them a program record of six conference wins. The winning season was the programs first since 2002.

Khettry's guidance not only produced team success, but individual success as he was named the 2008 A-10 Coach of the Year, while three student-athletes were lauded with All-Conference honors. Sophomore Anna Cunningham became just the fifth player in program history to be named to the All-Conference first team, while Kaitlin Krisko and Hannah Lapp were named to the All-Rookie squad.

Now entering his fourth campaign as the leader of the Brown and White, Khettry's philosophy of promoting hard work still speaks as loud as it did on his first day on the job.

"I want to help create a soccer program where young women can strive for and be supported in their pursuit of personal and group excellence," said Khettry. "I can tell you that that our group of women are going to work harder than they ever thought was possible, achieve more than they ever thought was possible and my staff and I will make sure that they absolutely love what they are doing and be passionate about it."

Khettry landed the 14th and 16th ranked class in the Northeast Region in a poll conducted by Soccer Buzz in 2007 and 2008, respectively. The 2007 class was the program's first-ever ranking and Khettry's first recruiting class as St. Bonaventure head coach. The 2008 12-member class was also deemed the sixth best among the 13 other Atlantic 10 schools and St. Bonaventure was tabbed as the conference's "team on the rise" by Soccer Buzz.

Khettry saw three of his student-athletes earn A-10 honors following a 5-12-2 second season in 2007. Senior Kristin Sotak earned second team All-Conference honors and also found her way onto the Academic All-Conference team. Freshmen Sarah Clark and Anna Cunningham - both members of the program's first regionally ranked class - were named to the A-10 All-Rookie team. A much-improved and competitive Bona team posted five shutouts while doubling their win total from 2006.

Prior to taking over the Bonnies program, Khettry was the top assistant at the University of Dayton. In his three seasons at Dayton, Khettry helped lead the Flyers to two regular season Atlantic 10 championships, two conference tournament championships and a pair of appearances in the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship. Dayton's combined record over Khettry's three seasons was 44-15-5. In 2004, the Flyer's held the nations longest wining streak (20 games) and finished the year ranked 20th in the final top 25 poll by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). His primary responsibilities were recruiting, daily team training and goalkeeper training. In 2004 and 2005, he helped the Flyers land the 66th and 38th ranked recruiting classes in the nation according to Soccer Buzz. Dayton's 2005 class was ranked third in the Great Lakes Region - the highest ranking in Flyers' history. Khettry helped coach three Atlantic 10 Players of the Year, as well as two All-Conference goalkeepers.

At Dayton, Khettry worked under head coach Mike Tucker, who was named the Atlantic 10 women's soccer Coach of the Year in 2004.

Khettry was an assistant coach at the University of Missouri from 2001-2003. Much like Dayton, top amongst his many responsibilities was goalkeeper training. He worked directly with the team's defenders and midfielders and in 2001, the Tigers posted the most shutouts in school history.

Khettry has been a member of the Region II Olympic Development Program (ODP) since 1996. In 2007, he served as an assistant coach for the '91 Region II team and in 2006 was the assistant age group coach for the '86/'87 Region 2 (Midwest) team. Khettry was also on the ODP Region I (East) staff in 2007 in Providence, R.I.

Khettry's professional experience extends outside the coaching realms, as he served as the Soccer Promotions Manager for US Youth Soccer and the NSCAA at adidas America from 1999-2001. There he handled all budgetary responsibilities of the $4 million adidas/US Youth Soccer contract. Also, during his two years at the Beaverton, Oregon based company, he oversaw the Girls Olympic Development Program and organization of the adidas cup, a foundation of the FIFA Women's U-20 World Cup.

In 1998, he served as the men's assistant coach at the University of California at Berkeley. Khettry was a graduate assistant at Miami University of Ohio from 1991-1994.

A native of Calcutta, India, Khettry earned his bachelor's degree in English Literature and Spanish Language and Literature from Earlham College in 1988. There, he was a three-time NSCAA All-Mideast first team selection, a two-time team defensive MVP and was a second team NAIA All-American selection in 1987. He received his master's degree in Spanish Language and Literature from Miami University in 1997.

Khettry and his wife, Moira, a 1993 graduate of the University of Dayton, have two children, Kiran (7), and Lilli (4).

Position:
Assistant Coach

Rebecca Capinera begins her second season as assistant women's soccer coach at St. Bonaventure under head coach Manoj Khettry.

Capinera's primary responsibilities include training and developing the team's goal keepers, travel plans, video breakdown and exchange, fundraising, assisting with recruiting, serving as assistant summer camp director and helping conduct practice.

"Becca is a great young goalkeeper coach. Her goalkeeper sessions are fantastic and I see a lot of variety in what she does with the goalkeepers. I have seen, in a very short time, a great deal of improvement in our goalkeepers and I expect them to continue to improve under Becca's tutelage. The other essential quality that Becca brings to the table is her desire to be a college coach. We're very fortunate to have her involved with our program, but we're also very fortunate to have someone who is dedicated to being a professional."

A 2009 graduate of St. John's University, Capinera was a three-year letterwinner as a goalie for the Red Storm. Capinera was also a three-time BIG EAST Academic Scholar-Athlete, while making over 100 career saves in net.

Prior to joining the Bonnies, Capinera served in various capacities of youth soccer in the Long Island area while completing her undergraduate degree. In 2008, she served as an assistant coach for the Auburndale Soccer Club while serving as a trainer at the Long Island Junior Soccer League Incorporation. In 2006, she was the goal keeper coach for the New York Olympic Development Program (ODP).

A native of Waterbury, Conn., Capinera earned a bachelor's degree in sports management at St. John's.

What They're Saying About Capinera

"Rebecca Capinera has always exhibited a true passion for the sport of soccer. She has taken all the right steps to develop as a coach, and with the tutelage she will receive under Manoj Khettry and the rest of the St. Bonaventure coaching staff, she will develop into a first-class college coach. Rebecca is a great example of a young female that effectively sets goals for herself and works hard to achieve them."
- Ian Stone, St. John's Women's Soccer Head Coach

"Rebecca is a great role model for the young female student-athletes at St. Bonaventure. As an upperclassman at St. John's University, she was a mature and passionate player that led the team and I expect her to do the same with her players. Rebecca understands the positional demands of the goalkeeper position as well the key elements in making a goalkeeper. She has some special qualities that you look for in a young coach; And after meeting, playing with, learning from or talking to Rebecca, you will easily see her qualities and why she will make an immediate positive impact with her players and peers."
- Jessica Clinton, Boston University Women's Soccer Assistant Coach
