Oct. 29, 2006
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - After failing to capitalize on scoring opportunities in the first half, the St. Bonaventure women's soccer team gave up the lone goal of the game in the 56th minute in a 1-0 loss to Temple in its season finale on Sunday afternoon at Ambler Sports Complex. The Bona attack reeled of eight shots in the first half, including five on goal, but was unable to find the back of the net. Despite controlling the pace of the play over the opening 45 minutes, the game remained scoreless heading into the break. The Owls got on the board at the 56:09 mark as Wendy Malina notched the eventual game-winning goal. The scoring chance was set up by Charisma Wright who found Malina with a cross into the box. Malina then blasted a shot over keeper Lisa Eberhart and into the top shelf of the net. The Bonnies struggled to come up with scoring opportunities in the second half, as they were held to just two shots. Temple finished with a 13-10 shot advantage. Eberhart and classmates Maggie Hanna, Kerry O'Malley, Christine Nasca and Carrie Vance played in their final collegiate game.
