Bonnies fall in season finale to Saint Joseph's

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team fell to Saint Joseph's, 3-1, in its final game of the season this afternoon at McGraw-Jennings Field.

The Hawks netted the games first goal just five minutes in as Megan Schutt scored off a pass from Alisha Paine to take an early 1-0 lead.

The Bonnies got on the board in the 35th minute as junior Kerry O'Malley notched her fifth goal of the season from sophomore Kristin Sotak to even the score heading into the half.

Saint Joseph's pulled ahead for good just two minutes into the second half as Ali Wean netted her third goal off the season to give the Hawks a 2-1 advantage.

Paine added an insurance goal for Saint Joseph's in the 70th minute when she blasted a shot from 10 yards out to clinch the win.

Junior goalkeeper Lisa Eberhart made five saves in goal. Eberhart logged every minute in net this season for the brown and white.

St. Bonaventure honored its seniors prior to the game. Jami-Lyn Beaty, Lois Bennett, Alyssa Castronova, Kara Fleet, Katie Fredlund, Emily Kridler, Heather MacDougall and Kristen Walczewski all played their final game in a Bona uniform this afternoon.

St. Bonaventure finished the season 2-15 overall and 1-8 in the Atlantic 10. With the win, Saint Joseph's improves to 8-8-3 and 4-3-2 in conference play. The Hawks will earn a berth into the A-10 Championships with a Duquesne loss this afternoon.
