ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure women's soccer head coach Manoj Khettry has announced the hiring of Olean, N.Y. native Janine Davie as an assistant coach. A 2003 graduate of Olean High School, Davie went on to a two-year collegiate soccer career at Monroe Community College before heading to Ohio Valley Conference member Eastern Kentucky for two seasons. "I knew from the moment that I met Janine last summer that she would become and make a great college assistant coach," said Khettry. "She is very responsible, committed and has a great soccer mind. I love that she has high standards of achievement and I know our players will benefit from her personality and her passion for excellence." Davie graduated this past May from EKU with a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education, but finished her playing career in the fall of 2006. Last season, Davie served as a student assistant for the Colonel coaching staff, serving as a practice player while assisting in student-athlete training sessions. A two-year captain at Eastern Kentucky, Davie served as the team leader as the program opened its existence in 2005. Following her first season at the D-1 level, Davie was named to the OVC All-Newcomer team and Academic All-Conference team. Davie's leadership ability was on display prior to joining EKU, as she led Monroe to a Division 1 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Title as team captain in 2004. During the Tribunes' 2004 run, Davie was named to the NJCAA All-Tournament team and was an All-American choice. Over her two years at a student in Kentucky, Davie served as an assistant coach for the Under-16 Kentucky Rush girl's soccer team and worked the Madison United Soccer Association (MUSA) clinics. Davie returned to her hometown last summer to work the inaugural SBU soccer camps under Khettry's guidance.
