Bricker earns second straight Academic All-District honor

May 9, 2008

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - After earning a spot on last season's second team, senior Brianna Bricker moved up to the first unit this year as Bricker was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District I first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

This is Bricker's fourth honor in the last four days following a trio of accolades bestowed upon her by the Atlantic 10. The Albion, Pa. product was named the A-10 Student-Athlete of the Year, while garnering selections to the league's All-Conference second team and Academic All-Conference squad.

The management sciences major has developed into one of the best all-around players in program history at the same time as carrying a cumulative grade point average of 3.92 over four years at St. Bonaventure.

In her final foray in the Brown and White, Bricker is enjoying one of her best seasons on the diamond. As the club's main offensive weapon at the dish, she leads the Bonnies with a career-best .338 clip with the bat. Bricker also paces Bona in runs (30), hits (47), home runs (6) and stolen bases (5) while ranking second with 18 RBI.

Bricker has made her mark on the Bona record books throughout her four years with the Bonnies as she ranks among the program's best in nearly every batting category. Thanks to mashing six homers during the 2008 campaign, Bricker vaulted into the number one spot on the all-time home run chart with 23 career yard balls. She also holds top 10 career rankings in hits (133/4th), doubles (19/10th), RBI (60/t-6th), runs scored (80/4th) and games played (143/10th).

Along with fellow seniors Patricia McKeon and Kirstin Strong, Bricker makes up the program's winningest class of all-time with 75 career victories. She has been a part of a pair of 20-win clubs and all three of the school's Atlantic 10 Championship appearances.

Following her selection to the first team, Bricker is eligible for Academic All-America honors to be voted on in the coming weeks. Bricker is the sixth Bonnie to earn All-District honors in the last four years.

Bricker and the Bonnies return to action at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon in an Atlantic 10 Championship elimination game against Fordham.
