ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Softball standouts Joelle Brunetto and Lauren Krieger have been named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Softball Team.

The duo made the first team All-District and thus are now eligible for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® consideration.

Heading into Thursday's opening round of the Atlantic 10 Softball Championship, Krieger is batting a career-best .299 including a .393 mark in conference games. The Bonnies' left fielder leads the team with 33 RBI and nine doubles. Krieger earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education last spring and is now working toward a master's degree.

Brunetto, a finance major who will graduate on Sunday, leads the Bonnies with a .322 batting average. The Bonnies' shortstop also has one home run, five doubles, 16 RBI and has scored 20 runs.

Krieger and Brunetto have helped St. Bonaventure to a 22-20 record including a school record 14 Atlantic 10 victories (14-6). Both student-athletes were named to the Atlantic 10's Academic All-Conference team earlier this week.

The Academic All-District teams are chosen by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be eligible, a student-athlete must carry a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 and be either a starter or a key reserve on his or her team.
