ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure softball head coach Mike Threehouse announced the addition of Katie Taylor to the 2009-2010 roster. She is transferring from the University of Charleston in West Virginia.

At the University of Charleston, Taylor started 32 games as a center fielder. She ended her rookie season with a .971 fielding percentage, making only one error and going 5-for-5 in put outs at the plate. Taylor landed on the Dean's List with a 3.55 GPA at Charleston and plans to continue to major in communications.

"Seeing that Katie has all ready played a year at the collegiate level, I expect her to bring experience and a mature influence to a young team that is full of potential," said Threehouse. "Her ability to play both infield and outfield will allow us to make moves throughout a game that can only make us better."

The Elma, N.Y., native started all four years at Iroquois High School. She finished up her high school career with spots on the Erie County Interscholastic (ECIC) Division 2 first team. She finished the season with a .350 batting average.

Taylor also landed on the first team after ending her junior year with a .455 batting average. In her first two years at Iroquois she earned a spot on the ECIC Division 2 second team. She was also a four-year varsity soccer player and won the Sportsmanship award for ECIC Division 2.

The center fielder currently plays competitive travel softball on the Western New York Extreme. They recently won the Brockport tournament in July.

Taylor joins Jessenia Andujar, Hali Enderby and Danielle Frye as newcomers for 2010. The Bonnies lost six players to graduation.
