Softball adds three for the upcoming season
Aug. 23, 2007 ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure softball program has added three newcomers for the upcoming season, announced head coach Mike Threehouse this afternoon. Michelle Seeger (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier), Sarah Signore (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Atrim) and Amber Webb-Fife (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) will all enter as freshmen this fall. "Sarah, Amber and Michelle are all terrific late signs for softball," said Threehouse. "Each of them brings a different set of skills to the program and I am looking for all three to make important contributions their freshman year." A capsule look at the incoming Bonnies: Michelle Seeger - Outfield/Second Base - Hamburg, N.Y. - Frontier Accolades: Helped lead Frontier Senior High School to a Section VI AA championship and a spot in the New York State semi-finals last season ... selected to the All-Western New York and All-ECIC teams by The Buffalo News following her 2007 campaign ... as a senior, she garnered the NYS All-Sportsmanship Award ... named her club's Outstanding Offensive Player following her junior and senior seasons ... was the recipient of the team's Sportsmanship Award last year. Personal: Born on April 6, 1989 ... daughter of Michelle and Bob Seeger ... has three brothers and one sister ... was an All-American cheerleader throughout her high school career ... named to the cheerleading ECIC Division I second team as a junior ... collected the Individual Leadership Award for Cheerleading at the prestigious Bryn Mahr Camp last year ... inducted into the Frontier High School Foreign Language Hall of Fame and received the Anne Szczesny International Award for the most outstanding student of foreign language at the culmination of high school ... as a senior, she was a member of the National Honor Society ... plans to major in Childhood Education with a minor in Special Education. Sarah Signore - Pitcher - Greencastle, Pa. - Greencastle-Antrim Accolades: Compiled a career record of 55-20 with 716 strikeouts, 64 walks and an ERA of 1.01 in 116 innings of work at Greencastle-Antrim High School ... as a switch hitter, she posted a career batting average of .421 ... helped lead the Blue Devils to a spot in the Mid-Penn Conference Tournament championship last season ... selected as the Herald-Mail Player of the Year as a sophomore and junior ... four-time Herald-Mail and Conference All-Star selection ... as a sophomore, she was named the Herald-Mail's Most Accomplished Athlete ... named to the Patriot News All-Underclassmen team and the Herald-Mail's Breakout Athlete following her freshman season ... four-year varsity contributor ... has played summer ball for the Central PA Krunch ... posted a record of 8-2 with 61 K's and an ERA of 1.09 in the circle last summer during her ASA/PONY tournament schedule. Amber Webb-Fife - Outfield/Second Base - Horseheads, N.Y. - Horseheads Accolades: Helped Horseheads High School to a New York State Final Four, a Southern Tier Athletic Conference West Championship and a Section IV title last season ... received the Coach's and Umpire's Awards following her senior campaign ... as a senior, she posted marks of seven RBI, 19 hits and 15 runs while hitting .260 at the plate ... was a high school and summer teammate of fellow incoming freshman Kara Morenus ... compiled a slugging percentage of .343 en route to nine RBI, 11 runs and two home runs this summer for the Lady Raiders ... has teamed with veteran Bonnies Stephanie Narde and Sherri Thompson on the summer circuit.
