Bona women drop to 7th place after Day Three of Atlantic 10 Championships
Feb. 23, 2007 Buffalo, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure's women's swimming and diving team fell to seventh place after day three of the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships. The University of Richmond is atop the leader board with a score of 493. The University of Massachusetts follows with 532 points and Duquesne University is in third with 281.5. Fordham University is in fourth (271.5), followed by La Salle in fifth (257.5), Saint Louis University in sixth (247), St. Bonaventure in seventh (246.5), Xavier in eighth (242), George Washington University in ninth (109) and the University of Rhode Island in tenth (69). Junior Anneli Johnson led the Bonnies with a second-place finish in the 100-yard breast. Johnson earned the silver with a time of 1:03.27. In the first event of the night, the 400-yard individual medley, freshman Kara Small finished second in the consolation finals with a time of 4:36.51, good for tenth place overall. In the 100-yard butterfly, senior Danielle Grobmyer claimed a seventh-place finish touching at a time of 58.91. Sophomore Allison Whalen and junior Meghan King put up points by taking tenth (58.93) and 12th place (59.27), respectively. Freshman Allison Smith and junior Taryn Ahern performed well in the 200-yard freestyle placing sixth (1:54.65) and 15th (1:56.37), respectively. The Bonnies return to action tomorrow at the Erie Community College for preliminaries at 10:30 a.m. with finals beginning at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 9:15 a.m. Tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 24, is the last day of competition for the Atlantic 10 swimming and diving teams.
