Brown and White record consecutive victories at Niagara

LEWISTON, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure women's tennis team picked up two-straight wins at Niagara in the club's dual match Saturday morning. The Bonnies posted a 4-3 win in the opener, before downing the Purple Eagles 5-2 in the final match of the day. The Brown and White finished Saturday's contest with an undefeated 6-0 mark in doubles play, while senior Anna Perevenzetseva and junior Anna Martorell recorded individual unblemished overall records for the day. In this morning's opening contest, the Bonnies posted three victories in singles play en route to the side's 4-3 win. Junior Yolande Callaghan overpowered junior Vanja Lakic 6-1, 6-3 for her lone victory of the day. Perevenzetseva outlasted freshman Raquel Solis 6-3, 3-6, 12-10 for her first of two singles wins on Saturday, while Martorell was victorious over junior Victoria Tiso 7-6 (3), 5-7, 10-8 in the team's opening contest. In the day's final match, the Brown and White tallied four wins in singles action, including consecutive victories from Perevenzetseva and Martorell. Freshman Maria Barousse earned a 7-6 (2), 6-2 result over Tiso, while junior Ana Delgado defeated junior Emma Cunnington 6-3, 6-3 for the team's fourth point in singles play. Sophomore Eileen Horgan finished the day with a 1-1 record in exhibition singles play. The Bonnies return to action on October 14, when the club hosts Mercyhurst at 1:00 p.m. Match 1 - 4-3 (W) Singles
