Bonnies compete at Albany Invitational

ALBANY, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure women's cross country team notched a 22nd place finish, while the men's side crossed the finish line in 24th place on Saturday morning at the University of Albany Cross Country Invitational. For the fifth time this season, freshman Caitlin Palmer paced the Bonnies' women by posting a time of 19:57 and a 103rd place finish in the 5,000 meter Bobbi Palma women's championship race. Following Palmer's team best performance, fellow classmate Jamie Sullivan ran by the line in a time of 20:51.5 and a 154th place finish. Freshman Keelan O'Connell registered a 174th place finish with a time of 21:39.2 to finish third for the Bona women. Freshman Kimberly Fuller (23:00.5/200th), sophomore Ashley Sandau (23:00.7/201st) and freshmen Tabitha Slachciak (24:22.5/214th) and Dana Phillips (25:15.1/222nd) rounded out the women's side. In the final tune-up before the Atlantic 10 Championships, junior Justin Isaman returned to the top spot for the Bona men by recording a 151st place finish and a time of 28:33.0 in the 8,000 meter R.K. Munsey men's championship race. Freshman Jimmy Burton notched the second fastest time for the Brown and White after finishing in 171st place with a time of 29:38.9. Just seconds later, a pair of Bonnies' runners crossed the line together as sophomore David Herlihy (29:47.3) and freshman Rob Ryer (29:48.1) posted 175th and 176th place finishes, respectively.
Sophomore Michael Grosso (30:11.4/181st), freshman Thomas Good (30:23.3/183rd), sophomore Rahkeem Wright (31:26.5/198th), freshman Thomas Rosetti (32:27.6/206th) and freshman Scott Shelters (33:13/218th) rounded out the men's team. Freshman Andrew Gaieski posted a 74th place finish and a time of 34:10.8 in the 8,000 meter men's Purple Race. The Brown and White return to action on Oct. 27 in their final meet of the season at the Atlantic 10 Championships in Philadelphia, Pa. |
